After firing Head Coach Dick Jauron on November 17th, the Bills replaced him with Defensive Coordinator Perry Fewell. The team signed former Dallas Cowboys receiver Terrell Owens and in the draft, selected Aaron Maybin with the 11th overall draft pick. By the end of the year, the Bill, Owens and Fewell were a bust. The Bills managed only 6 wins against 10 losses and were again left out of the playoffs for the 11th straight season.
This season, the Bills have a new head coach in Chan Gailey and T.O. is no longer a distraction on the team. The team has drafted RB C. J. Spiller with the 9th overall pick in the draft and UCONN WR Marcus Easley in the 4th round. On the downside, RT Brad Butler announced his retirement due to an injury sustained in week two of the 2009 season against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
The Buffalo Bills franchise began as a charter team of the American Football League in 1960. With the merger of the NFL and the AFL, the franchise was placed in the AFC East. While members of the AFL, the Bills won back to back league titles in 1964 & 1965 and after joining the NFL, took part in four Super Bowls (1989-1992) in which they did not win one. In those years, the franchise employed a hurry-up offense that was named the "K-Gun" after QB Bill Kelly.
The Buffalo Bills have won two League Championships, four Conference Championships and ten Division Championships. They have appeared in the playoffs seventeen times in 50 seasons.
The Bills play at Ralph Wilson Stadium in Orchard Park, New York, making it the only of the three New York franchises to play in the State of New York.
